Kelis was arrested in Miami early Friday morning (March 2) for hurling racial slurs at two undercover police women.
According to the Associated Press, the officers, who were posing as prostitutes in the South Beach nightclub district as part of an investigation, claim the Harlem bred crooner (born Kelis Rogers-Jones) approached them and began screaming racial profanities.
She then rushed toward them and had to be restrained by her friends, a Miami Beach police arrest report said. The singer then calmed down for a brief moment, only to start shouting at the officers and charging them again. She resisted arrest while being handcuffed.
The 27-year- old vocalist, who is also married to Queens rapper Nas, was then detained at 4:30 a.m. and charged with the two misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest without violence.
She was released on $1,500 bond hours later, Miami-Dade County jail spokeswoman Janelle Hall said. Kelis' publicist, Tracy Nguyen, would not comment on the arrest.

"I wanna apologize to Jay and his family and friends, because I was asked that question and they put it in there like I was just feeling like, 'Oh, you know what, nigga? I'm better than Jay!' They came at me like, 'So you say you're the best. Can you say that you're better than everybody? Would you say you're better than Jay? I was like, 'Yeah, nigga I'm better than everybody!' But I'd like to throw that apology out there 'cause of whatever trouble I caused, I ain't want that to happen."
