Rumors say that Mos Def is holding off on releasing a new LP until Geffen Records awards him the budget he feels he deserves. Despite this, a slew of Mos songs have been released in recent months. Since releasing "Beef" and collaborating with Kanye West, Ludacris and Floetry, the Mighty Mos has dropped several freestyles and songs, including the recently leaked "Summertime" and "Ah Ah," an exclusive track featured on DJ P Cutta's most recent mixtape. Now word is that several of Mos' latest unreleased tracks have been packaged into an unofficial EP to be leaked onto the streets.

Though fans have been feeding into the rumors of a potential Outkast break up for months, the pair has now announced that it will be reloading with two new LP's within a year. Besides working on a soundtrack for their upcoming HBO flick, Kast is heading back to the lab to record a hardcore LP entirely produced by longtime collaborators Organized Noize.

The Roots' line up has gone through several changes since the departure of emcee Malik B close to 5 years ago. Vocal percussionists Rahzel and Scratch are now noticeably absent and guitarist Ben Kenney has also moved on to other projects. Now, rumors are circulating that The Roots are soon to add another lyricist to their ensemble. Though the emcee's identity has yet to be revealed, many speculate the contender is an underground lyricist presently featured on the band's compilation.

Phili emcee Last Emporer, best known for his classic “Secret Wars” song pitting emcees against comic book characters, has let loose on Eminem and Russell Simmons. The one-time Aftermath emcee is pissed at Eminem for his infamous remarks, Russ for supporting him, and other emcees for keeping quiet about the issue.

In a recent freestyle over Kanye’s “Jesus Walks” instrumental, Last Emp spits:

"Somehow Em's up in the hands of whites.
I'm surprised at Kevin Muhammad and Russell Simmons,
Y'all defendin' Eminem for disrespectin’ our women?
If it's okay to dis black girls, negro, listen,
Somebody cancel my One World magazine subscription.
See this is the way that black lives are lost,
This is not the way that Elijah thought,
These are not the same teachings that Elijah taught,
We should have been put that cracker on life support.
Man, somebody better give that man a tap on the shoulder,
Are you workin’ for the slave master, handin’ us over?
Instead of goin’ state to state tryin’ ta register voters,
You need to stick to meditation and practicin’ yoga."
