Though Jay-Z and Beyonce have been a pair for over year, neither has publicly admitted to being in a relationship. However, at a farewell soiree for former Def Jam executive Lyor Cohen, Jiggaman allegedly shocked the crowd by announcing that he would wed Beyonce soon. After thanking Cohen and acknowledging his friendship, Jay reportedly made the big announcement.. "You've been one of the best friends I could have had," Hov told Cohen at New York's Taj nightclub before adding, "Apart from this woman beside me (Beyonce), who I love and who I will marry very soon."

The Source's much-hyped expose feature on Eminem as a dirty racist with a CD to prove it has hit the streets. A month later, the streets still don't seem to care. When the chips are stacked up, the self-proclaimed 'hip hop bible' appears to have taken a loss on this one.
Besides Russell Simmons, who immediately defended Eminem after his apology, the Detroit rapper is getting support from folks in hip-hop who've told the Associated Press they distrust the Source's credibility.
"(This is) a whole vendetta against one man, when you put him on the cover before and blew him up, and now I guess it's a bad taste in your mouth, so you want to go back and try and trash the man's career," said Outkast's Big Boi.
"Kids at home see that this guy (Scott) owns the magazine," Elliot Wilson, Editor-In-Chief of XXL says. "He made a record dissing Eminem first, and he's also a co-owner of the magazine, and those things are related."
"At the end of the day, The Source is in business not to enlighten us, to save us from the evil of mankind," he said. "The Source is in business to sell magazines," remarked Ahmir "?uestlove" Thompson of The Roots.
Apparently brushing the dirt off his shoulder after this attempted character assassination, Eminem is back to his old, brash self. This Tuesday at 10:30pm, the Detroit rapper will appear on Comedy Central's Crank Yankers weekly perverse phony puppet crank phone call show to make a few twisted calls of his own.

Heads have long speculated that Pete Rock was involved with A Tribe Called Quest's Low End Theory production. And now, in a feature in Wax Poetics magazine, the Chocolate Boy Wonder reveals that Q-Tip lifted "The Jazz" from his basement. According to Pete, Tip came over one day and heard the instrumental playing with the sample sitting next to the record player. 'The Abstract' consequently inquired about the beat and quickly learned that the instrumental wasn't destined for CL Smooth, but was just another banger in Pete's stash. Pete Rock then asserts that Tip caught on to the elements he used in the beat and later made an identical track. Instead of credit, Pete received a shoutout at the tail end of the cut. In the article, Pete also alleges that P. Diddy stole "Juicy" from him in a similar manner.

Once Rahzel made himself scarce on Roots projects, Philadelphia native Scratch took over the slot by complimenting the band with his own brand of beat boxing and vocal scratches. Now after years, with the crew, the human turntablist has moved out on his own. ?uestlove confirmed the news on the Okayplayer.com web site stating that he didn't quit and wasn't fired. Instead, as ?uest puts it, 'he made his last appearance at Bonnaroo Festival then, [the] ni99a David Blained us." Earlier this week, Scratch provided the sounds for Tigger on "Rap City."

After helping to introduce the world to some of today's biggest hip-hop artist with the show "Yo! MTV Raps" and later with New York's Power 105, one half of the duo Dr. Dre and Ed Lover gets the ax. Dr. Dre has been fired from his hit morning show on Power 105 alongside long time partner Ed Lover and Monie Love. Dr. Dre and Ed Lover returned to New York two years ago from LA to help launch Power 105 as a new station.
After his show last Thursday, Dre was told his contract would not be renewed. "We greatly appreciate Doctor Dre's efforts over the past two years helping us launch Power 105. We wish him well," Andrew Rosen a Clear Channel executive said. There is no word whether he will be replaced or go to another station. Besides being seen on the nationwide show "Yo! MTV raps" the duo also starred in their own hip-hop movie "Who's the Man?" Over the years Dr. Dre and Ed Lover have helped the careers of such artists as Eminem and Snoop Dogg.

Master P, otherwise known as Percy Miller, appeared in federal court Thursday and pleaded guilty to failing to file a corporate income tax return seven years ago. Federal prosecutors accused Bout It Incorporated, the company Miller founded in 1996, of neglecting to report its first-year earnings to the Internal Revenue Service . Miller is also the founder of hip-hop label No Limit Records.
The alleged tax crime carries a maximum sentence of five years probation, a fine of $200,000 or twice the financial gain or loss — whichever is greater — and the cost of prosecution. A sentencing date will be set later by U.S. District Judge James Brady.
Before entering the courthouse Thursday afternoon, Master P was approached by man attempting to serve papers relating to another matter. At one point the man even tried to block the building's metal detector before finally throwing the papers at the rapper.
