Actors Ving Rhames and Sarah Polley are close to signing deals to star in the remake of DAWN OF THE DEAD. The two would play members of a group of survivors holed up in a mall seeking refuge from the unstoppable hordes of reanimated dead folk. Rhames would play a policeman while Polley would play a nurse.

(Let me go on record that I think this remake is a BIG mistake: The original DAWN is a horror classic and an indictment of consumer culture-unless the remake can make pointed social commentary about modern consumerism AND deliver the shocks it will be a waste of time. And oh yeah, if it's rated "R" or the gore is done with computer graphics it is doomed to suck-mister X)
