After being 'labeless' for several months it looks like Mobb Deep has landed a phat deal with Jive Records. They are supposed to be doing a 50/50 split with the label and get 10 million dollars for signing. They will be joining the ranks of E-40, Too Short, N'sync and Britney Spears. No word as to whether or not we'll see a Mobb Deep/Britney collabo.. but bare in mind, Spears says she will be using a lot more Hip Hop in her next album.

The rumor had been that Eminem would be performing witht The Roots at the Grammy's. However, the fact is now that there will be an Eminem/Roots performance callaboe at the Oscars, not the Grammys. As many of you know, Eminem has been nominated for an Oscar for "Lose Yourself," which they are very likely to perform. As a hip hop fan, this is a much bigger callabo than Eminem/Elton John.

According to the good folks over at Contrabandit.com Ras Kass is on the run. Apparently he was supposed to turn himself in on January 12th to start serving a 9 month mandatory sentence for his third DUI conviction. He never showed up thus making him a wanted man. Sources at his record label seem to think he may be back East in NY. Needless
to say this scenario will delay the release of his album 'Goldyn Chyld' which features collaborations with Dr Dre, Xzibit, Pharaoh Monch, Hi-Tek, DJ Premier and a host of others.
