A Detroit-area rapper who plays a bit part in Eminem's blockbuster debut movie was shot on 8 Mile Road in Detroit, the street that gave the film its name, authorities said on Friday.

An unidentified assailant shot 26-year-old Ali Miyzaan in the stomach outside Detroit's Phoenix Theater after he dropped in for the premiere of "8 Mile" last Saturday, police spokesman Glen Woods told Reuters.

He said Miyzaan had been trying to break up a fight outside the theater when "somebody shot him from somewhere."

Woods said no arrests had been made and that Miyzaan was not seriously injured in the attack, which appeared unrelated to the violence targeting some of America's top hip-hop stars
