Daddy-O, of the '80s hip-hop group Stetsasonic, is planning a follow-up record to the Stop The Violence Movement's 1989 hit "Self Destruction" that reached Number One on Billboard's Hot Rap Singles chart, and was certified gold.

Daddy-O, who appeared on the original recording and has produced songs for Mary J. Blige, Queen Latifah, and Junior M.A.F.I.A., told LAUNCH that he has already received verbal commitments from noted hip-hop acts.

"I got verbal commitments so far from Busta [Rhymes] and Chuck [D]; more to come," Daddy-O told LAUNCH. "Of course my group is down. [MC] Lyte is down. All of the original members. Me and KRS[-One] are going back and forth on the email."

Daddy-O announced his plans for the new effort on the New York's Star & Buckwild morning radio show Thursday (October 31) as a response to the murder of Run-D.M.C. DJ Jam Master Jay, who was reportedly shot in the head while playing a video game in his New York recording studio.

Daddy-O added that he has also received support from other hip-hoppers, including J-Live, Wordsworth, Evil D, and Kam. Daddy-O is planning to meet with Lyor Cohen, Island Def Jam chairman/CEO, about releasing the record on the label home to Jay-Z, Ja Rule, and Ludacris.

Recording "Self Destruction 2" is one of the initiatives for the hip-hop community Daddy-O is proposing. He is asking rappers, including Fat Joe (a.k.a. Joey Crack) and Irv Gotti's Murder Inc., to remove and denounce stage and company names that reference murder, violence, and drug dealing.
