The straight dope on what's going on in Hip-Hop, Media and Entertainment

Oct 10, 2002

Alot of underground fans have heard and were much anticipating a collaboration between underground heavyweights Philly's Mountain Brothers and L.A.'s Styles of Beyond. However, following some kind of in-studio altercation between the groups, the project is now off.

Mountain Brother's manager, Mike Baxter, would not provide any details regarding to the cause or nature of the altercation, but stated only that the whole thing has been blown out of proportion. Baxter has stated, "Hopefully there is someway we can get past this and do good work, and get music done because these are the best indie groups on the east and west coast that people have not heard from in a few years. Hopefully for hip-hop fans this can get resolved, that's my goal, and what I'm really working on."

Rope A Dope Records in preparing a follow-up to last year's Philadelphia Experiment. The Detroit Experiment is scheduled for a February 2003 release date with the first single "The Way We Make Music" featuring Invincible of the Athletic Mic League being released sometime in December. The album will feature Carl Craig, Aaron Luis Levinson, and Karieem Riggins (Slum Village).

50 Cent's Shady Records debut is scheduled for a December 3, 2002 release date.

(does anybody else think that 50 Cent is mad over-rated. I am not excited in the least about the album, with or without Eminem's involvement)

Rumor has it Redman's new album will include a collado with Baby of Cash Money.

(I don't know about y'all, but that sounds like an unlikely combination. But, on paper, so does Redman & Christina Aguilara)

Whut!?
